Compliments and "modesty" go hand in hand.

Every time I log onto Facebook, I'll see a picture of one of my female classmates or friends and the comments are almost GUARANTEED to go something like this:

Cookie: OMGEEEEE.... ur so pureeeetty, Milk!
Milk: Gurl, look in da mirror to see pretty. LOLOL!!1
Asparagus: Milky, darling, pass teh GAHRGEOUS, will ya? LOLOL!1
Cookie: ^ wat she sed.
Milk: ohh, shaddup u gaiz, ur all beutiful 2!
Asparagus: LOLOL!!1!

Okay, maybe that was way exaggerated.

But the point is the compliments. Half of the time, I'm not sure if they're sincere. But sincere or not, I will never understand why they brush off the comments every single time and instead shooting the compliment back. I mean, okay, maybe it's just the "nice" thing to do, but it gets kind of annoying.

I'm pretty sure most of those girls know that they're pretty. And I'm pretty sure most of the girls complimenting don't actually mean what they say.

See, this drama is half of the reason why I don't post my picture on Facebook. Or comment on anyone's picture. Facebook. *shudder*

But it's not only on Facebook. At the lockers, bathrooms, changing rooms. God, it's everywhere. THERE'S NO ESCAPEEEE!

Why can't people for once just accept the fricken' compliment? Do we really need to reject it? But something tells me it's just human nature. Well for kids our age anyway. :[ Ugh.
